Kanamycin (sulfate) + Cephalexin (monohydrate)

Intramammary sterile infusion for lactating cows

Pharmaceutical composition: Each 8 g syringe contains:
Kanamycin (sulfate) 100,000 international units
Cephalexin (monohydrate) 200 mg
Oily base q.s. 8 g

Pharmaceutical specifications: Cephalexin is a beta- lactam antibiotic.It is a first generation cephalosporin with a time-dependent bactericidal activity which is exerted by inhibition of bacterial cell wall synthesis. Kanamycin is an aminoglycoside with concentration-dependent bactericidal activity that affects microorganisms by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis.
The combination of cephalexin and kanamycin has a synergistic effect against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus agalactiae, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, Streptococcus eubris and Escherichia coli.

Indications:Treatment of mastitis in lactating cow.

Method and dosage:

• Infuse the content of one injector in to each infected quarter immediately after stripping the udder and cleaning the teat. Before injection, the breast should be completely drained of milk, then the entire contents of a syringe should be injected into the affected area through the milk duct. For each cartier, 3 injections should be done at an interval of 24 hours. In order to better absorb the medicine, after injection, massage the breast from bottom to top. Shake the syringe before use.

Precautions:

• Do not use in dry period.
• Cephalexin and kanamycin are used in cases.
• Keep out of reach of children.
