Ampicillin ( Trihydrate ) + Cloxacillin ( benzathine )

Intramammary sterile infusion for drying cow

Pharmaceutical composition: Each 10 g syringe contains:
Ampicillin (trihydrate) 500 mg
Cloxacillin (Benzathine) 1000 mg
Oily base q.s. 10 g

Pharmaceutical specifications: Cloxacillin is active against staphylococci resistant to penicillin G. Ampicillin possesses antibacterial activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Both antibiotics bind to membrane bound proteins known as penicillin-binding proteins (PBP’s).

• Target species: : Cattle

• Indication:Treatment existing mastitis and provide protection against further infections during the dry period. It also aids in reducing the incidence of summer mastitis in dry cows at risk. Drylin® DC is active against: Streptococcus spp. Staphylococcus spp. Corynebacterium spp.

Method and dosage:
  • Dry off therapy: After the final milking of a lactation, clean and disinfect the teats and introduce the contents of one tube into each quarter via the teat canal. Usually, one injection is enough. To help better absorption and effect, massage Cartier from bottom to top after injection. Shake well before use.
  • Summer Mastitis Therapy: Prior to the first calving, whilst at risk to summer mastitis, clean and disinfect the teats and introduce the contents of one syringe into each quarter at 3 week intervals. During the summer mastitis period, all dry cows should receive a repeated infusion of one syringe into each quarter at 3 week intervals throughout their dry period in addition to the routine drying off therapy.
Precautions:
  • For Veterinary Use Only
  • Do not use in Shirorai livestock.
  • Hypersensitirity to penicillins should be considered.
  • Keep out of reach of children.
• Withdrawal period:
  • Avoid consuming milk until 4 days after delivery and meat until 28 days after the last treatment.
• Storage:
  • Store at a temperature lower than 25 oC and away from direct sunlight and protect from freezing.
