Tetracycline (Hydrochloride)

Steril Ophthalmic Ointment

Pharmaceutical composition: Each 5 gram tube contains 50 mg of tetracycline (hydrochloride).

• Mechanism of action: Tetracycline is a broad-spectrum bactericide antibiotic. It inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by preventing the binding of aminoacyl tRNA to the bacterial ribosome.

• Target species: Cattle, Sheep, Goats, Dogs, Cats, and Birds

• Indication:This ointment is used to prevent and treat eye infections caused by Moraxella, Listeria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia and other species sensitive to tetracycline in conjunctivitis, pink eye, corneal ulcers, blepharitis and other diseases. Eye bacteria is used in cattle, sheep, goats, horses, camels, dogs, cats and birds.

Method and dosage:

• Turn the lower eyelid and drain a sufficient amount of eye ointment evenly and slowly into the lower conjunctival sac. Apply the ointment daily 2-4 times daily. For animal with only a single infected eye it is recommended, to prevent cross infectious, that both eyes be treated, treating the infected eye first to avoid transferring the infection.
