Nautrioma® Sodium hydroxide

Dehorning paste

• Composition: Each tube contains:
25% w/w of Sodium hydroxide, suspension agent and water.

• Indications: Dehorns calf at the ages of 5 – 14 days old

Indications: This drug is prescribed to help treat flatulence in ruminants and as a stool softener.

Each tube is for dehorning 5 calves. At low ages (5-14 days old) and when the prominence of the horns of the calves is palpable, first cut the hair of the protruding area of the horn with short scissors and if you wish, you can lubricate the area around the protrusion of the horn with a little grease or Vaseline. Then apply a thin layer of dough with a suitable diameter and thickness of 1-2 mm on it. Then apply a thin layer of paste to a suitable diameter and a thickness of 1-2 mm. To avoid wiping off the paste by the calf, it would better to tie the calf’s head and limbs for a while. Calves should be kept separately from others during the dehorning.

In case of coming in contact with eyes, rinse them thoroughly with water. In case of contact with the skin, wash the area with a little vinegar and then clean with cotton and plenty of water, and in case of contact with the eyes, rinse the area with plenty of water.
In order to prevent possible misuse and to observe hygiene, dispose of the used syringes in a sanitary manner.
Avoid contact with the animal’s eyes. If accidentally, more than the allowed amount is poured on the prominence of the calf’s horn, clean the area completely with cotton and after 24 hours, try to burn the horn again.
Avoid burning horns when it is raining.
Keep out of the reach of children.

Store at a temperature below 25 degrees Celsius, away from direct sunlight and protect from freezing.
