Sulfadimidine sodium

Pharmaceutical composition: Each milliliter of the solution contains 333 mg of sodium sulfadimidine.

Pharmacological characteristics and mechanism of action: Sulfadimidine sodium is a broad-spectrum sulfonamide that inhibits folic acid through competition with PABA, and as a result interrupts bacterial protein synthesis and is bacteriostatic. After oral administration, the drug is quickly absorbed and spreads well in the body tissues. Fast absorption and long shelf life of the drug in the blood cause its favorable effect. Sulfadimidine is relatively metabolized in the liver and most of it is excreted through urine and a small amount through feces, bile, sweat and milk.
Indications:Sulfadimidine sodium has a wide range of antimicrobial effects and is effective on Gram-positive and negative bacteria such as streptococcus, staphylococcus, anthracis, clostridium tetani and perforgence, Escherichia coli, salmonella, pastoral, chlamydia and protozoa such as coccidia and toxoplasma. Is. Resistance to this drug has been seen in species of Pseudomonas, Leptospira and Proteus. Sulfadimidine sodium is prescribed orally in animals to treat the following conditions:
carnivores: Pneumonia and enteritis
Ruminants: Diphtheria of calves, poison rot, active bacillosis, metritis, polyarthritis, coccidiosis, mastitis
Poultry and turkey: Coccidiosis, fowl cholera, infectious crisis

Method and dosage:

carnivores: Start treatment: 55 mg of sodium sulfadimidine per kilogram of body weight on the first day (1.5 ml of the oral solution per 10 kilograms of body weight)
Continue treatment: 5.27 mg of sodium sulfadimidine per kilogram of body weight on the second, third, fourth and fifth days (0.75 ml of oral solution per 10 kilograms of body weight)
Ruminants: Start treatment: 220 mg of sodium sulfadimidine per kilogram of body weight on the first day (30 ml of oral solution per 50 kilograms of body weight)
Continue treatment: 110 mg of sulfadimidine sodium per kilogram of body weight on the second, third and fourth days (15 ml of
oral solution per 50 kg of body weight)
Poultry and turkey: 134-196 mg per kilogram of body weight for 4 consecutive days (at the rate of 0.2% of the food solution with drinking water or each glass dissolved in 125 liters of drinking water daily)
Attention:The above amounts should be consumed in the water consumed by livestock and poultry for one day.

Maintenance:
  • Store in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
Prohibited usage:
  • Do not use in cases of liver and kidney failure.
  • – Do not use together with antacid drugs, calcium salts and vitamin K.
  • It should not be used in lactating cows of 20 months and more, calves up to one month and laying poultry.
  • Do not use in cases of drug allergy.
• Withdrawal period:
  • beef, veal, sheep, goat and poultry meat: 10 days
  • Lion: 4 days
Precautions:
  • For veterinary use only
  • Do not take the medicine for more than 7 consecutive days.
