Intramammary Sterile Suspension

For Intramammary infusion in lactating cow only

 10 g Sterile Injector

Pharmaceutical Category: Antibiotic

Composition:

 Each injector (10 g) contains:

-Ceftiofur (HCl)                       125 mg

– Oily base q.s. to                      10 g

Mechanism of action:

Ceftiofur is the third generation of Cephalosporin antibiotics. Ceftiofur inhibits the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall by interfering the production of the essential enzymes which leads to its lysis and death of bacteria.

Indications:

Ceftiofur LC is for the treatment of 1) clinical mastitis due to coagulase-negative staphylococci, streptococcus dysgalactiae and Escherichia coli and 2)subclinical mastitis due to coagulase-negative staphylococci, streptococcus dysgalactiae in lactating cow .

Dosage & Administration:

Shake well before use.

Wash teats thoroughly with warm water containing a suitable antiseptic. Dry teats thoroughly. Milk out udder completely. Wipe each teat by an alcohol pad separately.

Infuse one syringe into each quarter. Repeat the treatment in 24 hours. Treatment may be repeated once daily for 8 consecutive days.

Massage the quarter to distribute the suspension into the milk cistern.

Caution:

Don’t administer during dry period.

Hypersensitivity to Cephalosporins should be considered.

Ceftiofur should not come into contact with the skin, eyes، mouth and clothing. Topical exposures to Ceftiofur can cause mild to severe allergic reactions in some individuals. In case of accidental eyes or skin exposure, wash eyes with water and wash skin with water and soap. Wearing protective gloves is recommended.

Withdrawal time: Milk: 3 days    Meat: 2 days

Storage: Keep in below 25 °C and protect from light and freezing.

Keep out of reach of children.
